Our Roots — Whiskey Woods
Where family, nature, and peaceful stays meet at the Lake of the Ozarks
From family to forest: How our dreams took root.
A place to slow down, breathe deeper, and reconnect with your loved one, nature, and the simple joy of being present.

Thirty acres of woods, two treehouses, one vision
We’re the faces behind Whiskey Woods—Darin and Lisa, recently retired educators who traded classrooms and ballfields for treehouses and trail maps. After 31 years of coaching college baseball (Darin) and a career as a high school art teacher (Lisa), we officially stepped away from our day jobs in May 2024 to chase a dream creating peaceful, design-driven spaces where people can truly relax and reconnect.
We raised our three now-grown kids in Maryville, Missouri. Lisa grew up near Kansas City, and Darin is originally from Minnesota. These days, we spend our time designing short-term rentals, building new projects, and traveling whenever possible. We do this because we love it—and because it funds our passion for discovering beautiful places around the world.
Whiskey Woods Treehouses was born from a desire to blend nature’s calm with a sense of elevated comfort. Nestled on 30+ wooded acres in the Lake of the Ozarks, our two treehouses—Bourbonhaus and On the Rocks—are cozy curated escapes for couples seeking something a little off the beaten path. Whether you’re soaking under the stars, sipping coffee on the deck, or hiking down to the water’s edge, we hope your time here feels special, still, and just a bit unforgettable.
